Buyers Information

Sale is after show on Monday  May 12, 2025 at the Rimbey Agricultural Grounds - Rimbey Agrium. Order  of steers  auctioned begins with Interclub Grand Champion, Reserve Champion then each clubs Grand Champion, Reserve Champion.

Once the  champion steers are sold, the steers of all three clubs are intertwined following the order of tags blindly picked  by members at the beginning of the year.

Auction by Vold Jones & Vold.  https://vjvauction.com/rimbey

The calf becomes the buyer’s risk/responsibility when the calf is sold (when auctioneer takes the last bid).

Buyer is to arrange hauling their steer home or to members farm if prior arrangements have been made.

VJV handles all sales and invoicing.

Prior arrangements for buyer’s risk/responsibility of purchased steer can be made with  4-H leader.

Buy Back Program

A buy back price is offered so if you (buyer)  wants to  support 4-H programs but does not desire a large quantity of quality meat you can still purchase a steer.

You pay the difference between the sale price of the steer and the buy back price.

Example: You bid $5.00/lb and the buy back is $4.00/lb you would only pay $1.00/lb for advertising.

For a 1300lb steer that is a $1,300 tax deductible donation to a young 4-H member.

Want to split a steer? Find a partner to half the steer's costs and investment into the member.

Each member receives the purchase price of their steer.

Meat Yeild

Buyers that chose to take the meat will receive

+/- 38% of the live animals weight

+/- 48% of which is high quality steak and roast cuts

Example: for a 1300lb steer

+/- 494lb of total meat

+/- 237lbs of steaks and roasts
